Constitution reforms
THE Fiji Football Association is going through constitutional reforms to get in line with world governing body FIFA’s guideline.
As a result, the vacant position of the vice president from the Western Division will not be filled anytime soon.
Former Lautoka Football Association official Abdul Kadar was appointed as president of the Fiji FA vice president replacing Tarunesh Reddy. Kadar himself resigned from the position creating a vacuum in the Fiji FA executive committee.
Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said the parent body was going through reforms.
Patel said they have to get into line with FIFA’s regulations.
“Once the reforms are passed then look into the appointment of the vice president for the West,” he said.
“The position remains vacant.”
The Fiji FA will hold an extra ordinary today to discuss and pass resolutions for the changes.
Patel said it was important for them to fall in line with FIFA’s requirements.
“We will hold the extra ordinary congress for the reforms needed for the regulations and constitution as we have to fall in line with FIFA and Oceania Football Confederation.
“We haven’t fallen short in FIFA’s requirements but FIFA has made changes with the new administration.
“The new season starts in January. The constitutional reforms were circulated to the districts.
“So the districts will also have to get in line with us and the clubs with the district associations.”
