Resort property plans to maximise opportunities in MICE market
THE newly appointed Cluster Commercial director for both Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa and DoubleTree by Hilton Fiji – Sonaisali Island, is looking forward to continue to drive the leisure market, while also growing the ever important corporate and meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) market.
In his role as Cluster Commercial director, Waleed Hassan will oversee all commercial aspects of both Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa and DoubleTree by Hilton Fiji – Sonaisali Island.
In a statement issued this week, Hilton Fiji announced the appointment of Mr Hassan and Nauman Hasan as the hotel manager of DoubleTree by Hilton Fiji – Sonaisali Island.
“I look forward to working across Hilton's two Fiji based properties and helping to continue to drive the leisure market, whilst also growing the ever important corporate and MICE markets,” said Mr Hassan.
“Being new to the South Pacific, I'm excited to learn and embrace the local culture, as well as develop and nurture the experience of our team members.
“I'm also looking forward to cultivating our relationship with the Australian and New Zealand markets and developing relationships with new and emerging markets too,” he said.
According to the statement Mr Hassan brings more than 18 years of experience with Hilton, predominately within Egypt and the Middle East, having worked at Conrad Cairo, Hilton Doha and Hilton Chad.
His most recent position was as Cluster Commercial director at Hilton Suites & Conrad Makkah in Saudi Arabia.
He brings strong experience in the leisure, corporate and MICE segments.
Meanwhile Mr Hasan joins DoubleTree from his most recent role as operations manager at Treasury Casino and Hotel Brisbane.
According to the statement he brings a wealth of hospitality knowledge with more than 15 years' of hotel management experience.
It said the new position would see him return to the Hilton brand as Mr Hasan previously worked for Hilton Singapore and Hilton on the Park Melbourne for more than 12 years.
“I'm excited to be back with Hilton and to take on a Hotel Manager role in such a desirable holiday destination such as Fiji.
“My aim for this position is to continue to improve and contribute to the overall performance of DoubleTree by Hilton Fiji – Sonaisali Island and further build on the resort’s reputation as one of Fiji's most authentic, accessible and affordable holiday destinations,” said Mr Hasan.
“I also look forward to becoming actively involved in the local community and ensuring that DoubleTree Fiji continues to acquire, grow and retain local talent to meet our current and future needs,” he said.
Both positions report directly to David Wells, Cluster general manager of both Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa and DoubleTree by Hilton Fiji – Sonaisali Island.
