The Fiji Times

Lyons thanks loyal readers

- CHRISTINE LYONS The Fiji Times General Manager

TO all our readers, loyal advertising partners, staff and stakeholders. 150 years ago on September 4, 1869, The Fiji Times opened its doors in Levuka. It was to be the start of a long tradition and legacy of relevant, impactful and entertaining stories for all Fijians here at home and beyond.

In those 150 years, The Fiji Times has been front and centre at every major event that has helped shape our nation from its early colonial era, through to early independence and now.

The Fiji Times remains proud and humbled to have been there every step of the way, covering events big and small with independent, credible and brave journalism which continues to appeal to our readers as well as ever supportive advertisers and other stakeholders.

Today’s The Fiji Times carries on a long tradition of being the news source for all Fijians, here at home and anywhere else on the globe.

Our journalists and support staff are acutely aware of the unique privilege of practising our craft every single day. We are well aware of the deep trust placed on us, built by legions of newsmen and women over the past 150 years.

Through the thousands if not millions of interviews, and telling compelling stories of real people and real issues, the triumphs, tragedies and everything in between, we say thank you for your loyalty to The Fiji Times .

We are indeed humbled and graciously appreciative of our many loyal readers over the past 150 years who opt to start their days with an edition of The Fiji Times — without you, there would be no us.

Thank you, vinaka vaka levu and dhanyawad.
