Another yellow card

-

ANOTHER game, another headhigh shot and another yellow card for the Wallabies.

Fiji-born No 8 Isi Naisarani was the latest to be sent to the sidelines on Friday after he charged into Georgia’s Giorgi Nemsadze in the 34th minute, hitting the big lock on the head during the Pool D clash. The TMO spotted the infringement and referee Pascal Gauzere had viewed it a few times on the big screen little choice but to produce a card — and Naisarani was a little fortunate that it was only a yellow. Wallabies No 10 Matt To’omua had already been penalised for a high tackle earlier in the game, won 27-8 by the Wallabies, and Michael Cheika’s side don’t appear to be learning their lessons as the tournament progresses.

Lock Adam Coleman and loose forward Lukhan Salakaia-Loto were both given yellow cards in the Wallabies’ previous game against Uruguay and Reece Hodge was handed a three-game ban for his high tackle on Fiji’s Peceli Yato.

Wallabies midfielder Samu Kerevi was also penalised for raising his forearm into Wales No 10 Rhys Patchell’s neck in a controversial decision during their Pool D clash, a decision that infuriated Wallabies coach Michael Cheika.

However, Cheika will also be displeased at his side’s continued lack of discipline — they have given up more yellow cards than any Tier 1 nation since the last Rugby World Cup.
