TELECOM Fiji customers can expect fast speeds of up to 150megs per second, much less latency while streaming videos and faster downloads with the deployment of optical fibre infrastructure in progress in the western part of the main island.
A statement from TFL stated that their teams were in Simla, Lautoka, laying out fibre lines as part of the company's investment in Fiji and Fijians.
TFL chief executive officer Charles Goundar said Simla was one of the first areas that Telecom deployed broadband in and some of their most loyal customers lived there.
“Soon they will be able to enjoy unprecedented internet speeds,” he said.
“Being 100 per cent Fijian owned, we are one of the few companies in the country that invests in developing infrastructure in Fiji, not just in densely populated urban areas, but also rural areas and maritime islands. We want to ensure no Fijian is left behind because of the digital divide.
“Lautoka is a high demand area for our services and we are currently deploying fibre here on our route to ensuring all Fijians have access to the latest and fastest technology,” he said.
