THE Vanuabalavu Day festival which took place from Thursday to Saturday has paved the way for younger generations to learn the traditional way of acknowledging relationships.

CEO of Vanuabalavu Vision Ltd, Tomi Finau, said it took over two years to plan this year’s festival.

“It’s just a good way to meet again after two years and raise funds to develop Vanuabalavu as individuals, as a group and as a community,” he said.

Mr Finau said over the past three days, the festival had managed to raise a combined total of $913,513.

“Out of the total amount, the sum of $431,392.13 is committed to the purchase of 359,493 shares in the island company, and the balance of $482,121.19 will be used for other development projects.”

He acknowledged the organising committee for ensuring that the festival ended on a high note.

“I’d like to thank the festival’s organising committee for all their hard work over the past two years leading up to the day of the festival.”
