THE late Joyce Heeraman gifted proceeds from her estate to charitable organisations.

And last week, as part of instructions in her will, the Fiji Public Trustee Corporation Ltd handed over $10,000 to the Fiji Cancer Society to assist with their operations.

Fiji Cancer Society CEO Belinda Chan said their work was not confined to the month of October.

“We have 11 other months where we’re constantly working, helping our patients and creating awareness where all the funds we get have been put to use,” she said.

“We have services in educational and awareness programs.

“Do reach out to us, we’d be happy to come and conduct these awareness programs.”

Manager Legal for FPTCL Priya Lal said they assisted Ms Heeraman with information on how to make a will. During the process, she learned about how she could distribute proceeds from her estate.

“She then decided that she would donate proceeds to charitable organisations,” she said.
