- By NOA BIUDOLE

AUSTRALIAN Prime Minister Scott Morrison said he was Fiji’s “number one tourist” when he jetted into the country last Friday.

“Australia is the biggest visitor to Fiji and I am your number one tourist,” he said.

Taking a break from climate change talks, Mr Morrison was in the country last week for the second time this year as the chief guest for the inaugural Prime Ministers XIII rugby league event at the ANZ Stadium.

The Australian PM said he hoped to further cement relationships between Fiji and Australia through sports.

“We have so much in common, Australia and Fiji. When Prime Minister Bainimarama and I come together, we come together as easy friends.

“Fijians and Australians have so much in common.

“We have so many people who live between our borders and share our lives together.”

The Australian PM conducted his first official bilateral visit to the country in January this year.

During his two-day trip, he visited the University of the South Pacific (USP) and conducted site visits to the Australian Pacific Training Coalition (APTC), Fiji National University (FNU) campus and the Black Rock project in Nadi.
