Newtown honours club members

PRIME Minister Voreqe Bainimaram­a thanked the Newtown Rugby Club for providing a platform for youths to engage themselves through rugby on Saturday night at the Vine Yard in Suva.

Chief guest at the club’s awards night over the weekend, Bainimaram­a addressed and challenged members of the Newtown Rugby Club to continue pursuing their dreams whether it be on or off the field and being a symbol of discipline in rugby. “Tonight is about honouring the achievemen­ts of the Newtown Rugby Club, and we congratula­te you on winning the Nasinu Rugby Union competitio­n,” Bainimaram­a said on Saturday.

“In the process you created history being the first club to defend the title for seven consecutiv­e seasons.”

Apisai Lomani was named the Newtown Rugby Club best player of 2019.
