THE Kaiviti Silktails will make their debut in New South Wales Rugby League Ron Massey Cup competition next year with. This will give local rugby league players an opportunity to develop their skills and further their careers overseas.

Officially unveiled by the Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison during the Prime Ministers XIII chash on Friday at the ANZ Stadium, Morrision said it was an opportunity to further bring together the two nations.

“This is a great new path of Fiji’s incursion to the National Rugby League in Australia,” Morrison said.

“The Kaiviti Silktails will compete in the Ron Massey Cup in 2020 and the Canterbury Cup in 2021.

“This is a great opportunity for young Fijian players coming through the ranks to be able to be exposed.”

Vodafone Fiji Bati coach Brandon Costin believed Fijian flair would be an addition to the NSWRL competition.

“For our local boys to be part of a great competition it couldn’t get any better,” Costin said.

“This is an opportunity of a lifetime, and if some of our players get grabbed up with NRL offers along the way would be just the kind of results we are looking for.”

The team marches into camp in Nadi next month.
