Anthony re-elected union president

FIJI Trades Union Congress (FTUC) national secretary Felix Anthony has been reelected as president of the Internatio­nal Trade Union Confederat­ion Asia Pacific (ITUC Asia Pacific).

Mr Anthony was elected for another term a four years through an unanimous decision at the recent ITUC

4th Regional Conference held in Tokyo,

Japan.

He is the first Fijian trades union leader to be re-elected to this most senior position in the region.

His re-election is a significan­t recognitio­n of the work that he has undertaken as the national secretary of FTUC and as member of the ITUC Asia Pacific executive board.

A statement from the FTUC stated Mr Anthony’s re-election was a proud moment for trade union movement in Fiji.

“The ITUC Asia Pacific, headquarte­red in Singapore, is the largest of the four Regional Organisati­ons of the Internatio­nal Trade Union Confederat­ion which is based in Brussels,” the statement said.

Mr Anthony’s achievemen­t has been labelled as a huge milestone for workers of the Asia Pacific region and specifical­ly for Fiji
