Programs assist commission’s performance
THE Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) has invested in a number of software programs over the past few years which has helped it perform its role more effectively.
FCCC chief executive officer Joel Abraham highlighted this during his submission to the parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts on the 2016-2017 Audit Report on Statutory Authorities yesterday.
Mr Abraham said the commission had invested in a case management software to handle complaints.
“This software captures complaints from the time it is lodged with FCCC, keeps track of it through investigation right through to closure or lodging the matter with the court for hearing,” he said, adding that it brought more transparency, accountability and efficiency in compliance and enforcement of the FCCC Act 2010.
Apart from this, Mr Abraham said the commission had also invested in an e-pricing portal which enabled traders to make submissions online for pricing decisions.
He said this reduced the turnaround time for product pricing decisions from a fortnight to two days.
FCCC also upgraded its financial and human resource information software which corrected issues such as anomalies in annual leave, payroll internal control deficiency and manual tagging of fixed assets which were noted in the 2016-2017 financial year.
Mr Abraham said the software investments had improved the efficiency of payroll, leave management, human resources, asset tagging and monthly reporting for the commission.
