$250m annually
M-PAiSA transactions reach more than $20m monthly
VODAFONE Fiji launched its first mobile wallet – M-PAiSA – in 2010 and today its transactions have reached more than $20 million in monthly transaction values and more than $250m annually.
Company’s chief marketing officer Rajnesh Prasad yesterday said more than $2m was coming into M-PAiSA every month from international remittance where customers received money directly on their mobile phones from 94 countries in the world.
Vodafone Fiji has enhanced its M-PAiSA mobile wallet with a new App – “Scan to pay” QR code payment feature — that will now provide users a much richer experience.
The M-PAiSA QR provides Vodafone customers with a brandnew payment experience that is secure, convenient, fast and trendy.
Mr Prasad said consumers would automatically access the QR payment by downloading the M-PAiSA App that was securely integrated into the M-PAiSA mobile wallet.
Once activated, consumers can select QR payment to activate the camera on their mobile device to scan a QR code placed at cashier counters in shops to make the payment.
Every merchant enabled for M-PAiSA QR will have their own unique M-PAiSA QR code placed on their counters for customers.
According to Mr Prasad there are 560,000 registered M-PAiSA users with 120,000 of them active customers who use the service on a regular basis.
Vodafone’s Head of e-Commerce and Corporate Affairs, Shailendra Prasad, said their new QR payment platform provided opportunities for small and medium enterprises such as roadside market vendors and large businesses across Fiji and could be applied to multiple industries.
Mr Prasad said some of the advantages of the service to corporate organisations included:
■ Less cash handling –less chances of cash going missing
■ Low risk, low insurance cost
■ Easy to track payments electronic records
■ Track business from anywhere via online access
■ Real time payments
■ No additional investment in system hardware and software.
M-PAiSA QR payments will now be accepted at more than 200 outlets Fiji wide.
