The 44th Fiji Primary Schools Inter District Championship was a success, said the organisers.

It saw teams coming in well prepared and they showed results of grassroots development.

The Labasa U12 team defeated Nadroga and Rewa with 1-0 scoreline, but unfortunately it went down to Ba 1-0 in the last pool match on Saturday.

Labasa went on to beat Bua 2-0 and after three years Labasa managed to beat Ba 3-2 for the U12 title.

In the U14 grade, a new champion was crowned.

The young Delta Tigers were emotional since after 17 years they finally won.

Coach Paramesh Karan said in past IDC they always lose in the semi-finals and this year was different.

“Hats off to the players, especially our goalkeeper Uraia Tamana because he was sensational,” he said.

Karan was emotional and added that the win was a good platform for the players to develop their skills for future competitions.

The Golden Gloves Award went to Uraia Tamana of Rewa and the Golden Boot Award went to Iliavi Waiyasi.

The BestPlayer of the IDC was Paula Nawalu of Rewa and the Best Coach Award was Paramesh Karan of Rewa.

The runner-up, Labasa received $400.
