MSAF advises shipowners about filming on islands

THE Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji has declared parts of Kadavu as “exclusion zones” for filming purposes.

In a marine notice issued on October 17th, 2019 MSAF acting director Captain Philip Hill said this exclusion zones would be in effect from October 21 to November 30.

“In accordance with regulation 20 of the Maritime (Navigation Safety) Regulation­s 2014, all shipowners/operators, masters, seafarers and the general public are advised that filming will take place in the Kadavu Group from 21st October to 30th November, 2019,” states the marine notice.

MSAF has approved a 24-hour temporary exclusion zones Vurolevu Island, Ono Island, Namara Island and Qasibale Island

“All ships are requlred to give wide berths from the shores of the respective beaches and avoid these areas during the above dates.”

MSAF said the notice was not applicable to Fiji Navy Ships, Maritime police ships, pilot ships, tugs and other ships required to attend to undertake emergency response or cases of ship emergencie­s requiring safe refuge at the respective islands and transporta­tion of supplies to Islands.
