Suva City tour
THE Fiji Times newsroom came to a standstill when students of John Wesley Primary School sang and danced to an original composition to entertain staff last Thursday. Eighty-five students were informed about the daily operations of the newsroom by The Fiji Times deputy sports Editor Maikeli Seru.
A flurry of questions from students about FT operation, most questions curious about the role of reporters and collecting credible stories.
John Wesley School teacher Solomone Kacirogoci said they brought students to various organisations as an exercise in exposure and an eye-opener for them.
“When students visit organisations as such it inspires them and gives them ideas to plan for their future,” said Mr Kacirogoci.
“We hope that it is going to be a good learning exercise and enlighten experience for our students who are mostly from challenging backgrounds. We are very thankful for the educational information that we have been provided. We hope that it is going to be helpful to our students,” said Mr Kacirogoci.
Meanwhile, twenty-seven students of Lami Christian Academy also visited The Fiji Times office on Thursday morning.
Schoolteacher Annie Ravuna said it was a yearly activity for the students. The two schools visited The Fiji Times office, Fiji Museum, Parliament of Fiji, Naval base, Communications Fiji Ltd, Fiji Broadcasting Corporation, and the Fire Station at Walu Bay in Suva.
