Data sharing deal

- By TIMOCI VULA

ENERGY Fiji Ltd (EFL) will now be providing employment data to the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) for compliance purposes and fund members’ benefit.

This data sharing partnership was formalised in Suva yesterday via the signing of a memorandum of understanding between EFL and the FNPF.

Under the MOU, EFL affiliates, preferred suppliers, principal suppliers, principal contractors and subcontractors will be required to submit FNPF compliance letters once registered with EFL’s data collection system.

Through the MOU, EFL will provide FNPF with employment data captured from its data collection system.

The same will be assessed and validated by the FNPF within the agreed timeline before it reverts to EFL.

FNPF chief executive officer Jaoji Koroi said his team had identified common areas where the fund could partner with organisations to ensure its stakeholders were compliant to its requirements.

“This partnership is a positive development for members because it ensures that their funds are being paid in a timely manner into their accounts,” Mr Koroi said at a press conference.

He said the fund was grateful to EFL for coming on board as the fund continued to work collaboratively with strategic partners for the ultimate benefits of its members.

The information exchange will be done on a quarterly basis and will be reviewed annually.

EFL chief executive officer Hasmukh Patel said they felt proud to assist FNPF by ensuring that EFL only hired the services of those companies that were in compliance with FNPF requirements.
