THE race for the top four is set to start.

Big names such as Westfield, Yamacia, Army Green, Army Red, Uluinakau, and current 2019 7s season tournament winners, Daveta, who recently won the SCC 7s 2019 in Singapore, Ratu Filise-recently won the Mamaqa 7s in Tavua, Wardens-winners of Ram Sami 7s last year are all in the run for the top four qualifying spots for open men to the McDonald’s Coral Coast 7s in its 10th anniversary tournament in 2020.

Yamacia rugby through founder David Dakuitoga has been a grooming ground for our national Fiji 7s Team in the past until now with the current selection of the three brothers Sevuloni Mocenacagi, Isoa Tabu, and Kaveni Tabu. Another product of such a process was Olympian golden boy, Semi “The Beast” Kunatani, who plays professional rugby in France.

Yamacia 7s have won many local tournaments and also have taken tours to participate in tournaments abroad.

They were a regular participant in the Coral Coast 7s since inception but have somehow lapsed in the last two years but have regrouped this year to reclaim their status through this qualifying tournament.

Daveta rugby 7s team after their recent win in Singapore for the SCC 7s last weekend November 10-11, 2019 is currently in Darwin, Australia to compete in Hottest 7s this weekend November 16-17, 2019. They have never won in Darwin and are working hard towards a historical win this weekend. Upon their return they will head straight into our Nadroga Sevens 2019 to fight for a spot in McDonalds Fiji’s Coral

Coast 7s 2020.

Daveta rugby for more than 20 years has been touring Australia, Singapore, Malaysia taking part in tournaments and even winning the World Club 7s in Limerick in 2015.

Another heavyweight in local 7s Rt

Filise who recently won the Mamaqa 7s held at Tavua’s Garvey Park on 1st -2nd November 2019 after beating Wardens in the final 21-7. The responses for all categories have been overwhelming and we could only discover now what the atmosphere on the tournament days will be like.

The six Army teams in the likes of Tu-Vakarau, Army-Green, Army Red, Red Diamond, LSU and Army Nadroga show their seriousness in securing spots in the McDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast tournament 2020 of which they haven’t been part of for the past few years.
