Hussain guides team to golf victory in Nadi
FIJI’S leading amateur golfer Abid Hussain guided his team to victory during the Shipping Services Fiji Limited sponsored Ambrose event at the Nadi Airport Golf Club (NAGC) Course.
Abid along with Saroon
Hussain, Noor Khan and Afzal Mohammed scored 56.125 net.
Veterans Hafif Ali, Chandra Segran Pillay, Ambika Prasad and Vinod Chauhan were placed second. They scored 57.625 net.
Sulu Brook, Jenice Hinton, Faiyaz Mohammad and Alfie Bowerman claimed the third spot with 59.625 net while the team including Tui Kabu, William
Bolea, Hari Ram and NAGC interim financial administrator Mark Hinton finished fourth after scoring 60.125 net.
Khan won the nearest to the pin prize while Abid hit the longest drive.
NAGC interim financial administrator Mark said they were thankful to Jeffery Lin from Shipping Services Fiji
Limited for the sponsorship.
He said they were gearing up for the big Nadi Open Championship sponsored by Coca Cola Amatil/Paradise Beverages which starts at the end of the month.
“There will be a restricted field of 80 players for our major event of the year,” Mark said.
“Only nine holes will be used so there will be different tees used after the first nine.
“The new golf shop is now open at the club which has a full range of golf accessories.
“There are also professional golfers based at the club offering golfing lessons.”
The 36 holes Nadi Open Championship will be played on November 30-December 1.
