Plans for the city
Council to work with retailers and business houses
THE Suva City Council is looking to construct an amusement park in Suva.
This is one of their plans in the coming new year, says SCC special administrator and SCC board chairman Isikeli Tikoduadua.
He said they would work with retailers and business houses in Suva to achieve their plans to improve the city.
“We want the new year to be a year that we ensure that we provide the ratepayers a fair return on the rates that they are paying,” Mr Tikoduadua said.
He said this meant they would improve the way they delivered their services.
“Second is that we want to make Suva livable and lively so that there people will want to visit the city more often.
“We want to create entertainment and we want to provide security.
“There is no point in coming to Suva and find out that you get mugged and you go back with a bad impression.”
He said SCC aimed to provide as many type of activities as they could for Fijians.
“We really want to create an atmosphere where parents feel comfortable to bring their children down in a safe place.
“Amusement parks — moving forward that’s we’ll do. We want to get involved in that.
“Beautifications where they can come and sit around, the eateries that is up to par with international ones.
“We want to make our parks much more attractive now, providing public convenience so that they’re safe.”
He said SCC also planned to install more CCTV cameras in the city next year so people would be comfortable when on streets in Suva.
“We want to get the retailers and business houses to partner with us — they have to play their part too.”
