- By ABISHEK CHAND

A FREE digital registration process will commence from today to update the information held with the Registrar of Companies (ROC) and to ensure that it is current and correct.

The one time requirement is for all business names and companies, including foreign companies which had registered before June 14, 2019.

This was according to a statement from the Department of Information yesterday.

It stated amnesty was provided for previous failures to notify the ROC of relevant changes to business or company information.

Therefore all companies have been requested to complete their digital registration applications by July 15, 2020 and all business name holders are to complete their digital registration applications by October 15, 2020.

According to the Department of Information, this initiative would greatly reduce transaction times with the ROC and enable its services accessible online for all the public.

The ROC would also release the location and dates of the roadshows to rural and maritime areas soon.

The digital registration has been stated to have a simple three-step process.

1. Creating an e-profile on the digitalFiji mobile application or website (www.digital.gov.fj).

2. Users are then required to use the e-profile to log into the registration portal access the digital registration tab and follow the instructions to register.

3. Thereafter the ROC would then verify the information that would be provided.

According to the statement the initiative was under the Fijian Government’s digital transformation program digitalFiji.

It was stated to be designed to boost ease for Fijians and improve the accuracy and accessibility of information and lower costs.

This would result in the registered entity’s information being available online, notifications would be sent of any pending payments.

As well as having online searches and applications, eliminating the need to be physically present and line up to access services.

It would also ensure the ability to make online payments according to the Department of Information.
