Mates to clash in Fiji


INSPIRATIO­NAL Tikiko Noke will face off with his former comrades in the 2020 Melanesian Club Championsh­ip in Lautoka next month.

Noke's former rugby league club, Lae Snax Tigers will battle the Premier Logging Ravoravo Rabbitohs in the 2020 Melanesian Club Championsh­ip.

Noke played prop for the Lae Snax Tigers and was a key player in the club's heroics in the 2019 Digicel Cup in the Papua New Guinea Rugby League Competitio­n.

The 110kg rep was recruited by the Lae Biscuit Company sponsored outfit mid-season 2018.

Lae, Morobe Province's Minor Premiers Lae Snax Tigers was crowned the 2019 Digicel Cup premiers after defeating sixth seeded and surprise finalists Kroton Hela Wigmen 15-4 in the Papua New Guinea Rugby League Competitio­n at the OS National Football Stadium in

Port Moresby.

The Stanley Tepend -coached side overcame 11 other franchises to be crowned champions.

The Lae

Snax Tigers have been the benchmark rugby league team in Papua New Guinea and have been the most consistent rugby league club in Papua New Guinea winning the Digicel Cup three times in the last four years (2016, 17 and last year). The club was establishe­d in 2013.

Lae is the capital of Morobe Province and is the second largest city in Papua New Guinea.

Noke, who is with the Kaiviti Silktails squad preparing to participat­e in the New South Wales Rugby League's Ron Massey Cup Premiershi­p has been a pivotal member of the Premier Logging Ravoravo Rabbitohs rugby league outfit.

The Melanesian Club championsh­ip is played between the winners from PNG and Fiji.
