Open minded approach

- By ZANZEER SINGH

NEW national football coach Flemming Serritslev will have an open minded approach when dealing with the media during the training sessions.

The UEFA pro licence holder also plans to meet with all the district association executives seeking co-operation so he can develop a similar playing style for district teams that will be in line with the national team.

“For the media I will have an open mind at all training sessions,” Serritslev said.

“When we will be in camp with the national team, the media will have the first 15 minutes to interview.

“After 15 minutes they can stay there and watch the training. There will be no interviews after the training.

“There will be one day that we will have no media interviews that is the day before the game.

“We will be very open minded and I will be going to all the clubs that are delivering the players for the national team.

“It is necessary to have a good co-operation from them. Before the first camp we will hold a meeting and will give our rules to the clubs.

“Hopefully the clubs will have a similar playing style and philosophy. When I’m saying having same playing style and philosophy it has nothing to do with how you play 4-4-2, 4-3-3 or 3-5-2, but it is how you want to play football.”

Serritslev is the 12th foreigner to coach the national football team. The others have been Wally Hughes (Australia 1981-1982), Rudi Gutendorf (Germany 1983/1987), Danny McLennan (Scotland 1993-1995), Les Scheinflug (Australia 2002), Tony Buesnel (Australia 2002-2003), Lee Sterrey (Australia 2005-2006), Juan Carlos Buzzetti (Uruguay 2006-2009/2011-2015), Frank Farina (Australia 2015-2016), Christophe Gamel (France 2016-2019).
