Messages on IWD from Coca-Cola staff members
Milika Rabonu (syrup maker):
My 2020 International Women’s Day pledge is to challenge the gender stereotype and bias within the manufacturing facility.
We women limit ourselves to the typical thinking that we have adopted from our societies, limiting our potential to grow.
These examples of limited thinking place a boundary on how far we can succeed.
Using myself as an example, women are capable of anything we set our minds to, to be recognised and to change perceptions from “it’s not women’s work” to “we all are capable”.
Jessica Lum (IS business analyst):
My 2020 International Women’s Day pledge is to show respect and embrace differences to all genders. I will listen more openly to everyone and at the same time, keep an open mindset about equality and inclusion.
What we can do as a community is to reflect on how fair and equal our actions and words are.
Finally, it is a privilege to work in an organisation like Coca-Cola Amatil Fiji Ltd where equality is present. #EachforEqual
Shival Prasad (cashier/ administration officer):
My 2020 International Women’s Day pledge is to recognise how far we’ve come towards gender equality, also how far we have left to go as a society.
We are all parts of a whole.
Together we can make change happen. Together we can help to create a gender equal world.
“Being a woman is our supreme achievement and not our deepest fear.”
Kristina Apisai (Health, safety and well-being manager):
“My 2020 International Women’s Day pledge is to broaden the perception of the role of women in the manufacturing industry.
To continue to challenge corporate leaders and ask the questions “Is there a reason why we don’t have more women driving forklifts or more women machine operators or machine fitters or electricians?” and “What can we do as individual businesses to attract women to these positions?” and
“What can we do as a community to encourage and empower our daughters to realise that they are capable?”
