Open day raises awareness on special school
SUVA Special School held its first ever open day yesterday to create awareness about the school.
Suva Society for the Intellectually Handicapped president Litia Konusi said apart from awareness, the school also conducted fundraising to assist with repairs of the school.
“We also did some fundraising because we have a few things we have to fix in the school,” she said.
“So we hope that whatever little we can make, we try and do some fixing ourselves instead of always asking from donors and business houses.”
The school also intends to level its playground for the safety of the more than 100 children enrolled at the school.
“This is the first time we’ve held an event like this, and it certainly won’t be the last.”
