Customer security
CUSTOMERS of one of the largest banking networks do not have to worry about scams with regards to the Visa Debit and MasterCard Credit products.
Bank South Pacific (BSP) in a statement mentioned it had upgraded this product through the completion of the rollout of its micro-chip enabled EMV debit and credit cards to all its valued customers.
The new cards were said to offer customers security such minimising risks from counterfeit, lost and stolen cards.
It was also stated to provide convenience in the usage of the cards.
BSP head of corporate, Maikash Ali said the upgrade aligned with the bank’s service in keeping with global standards.
He stated banks were upgrading their debit and credit cards to have a micro-chip also known as an EMV card embedded on it.
“An EMV card cannot be cloned and misused. These EMV cards store encrypted information on an embedded secure chip making it virtually impossible to counterfeit,” said Mr Ali.
“We are delighted to deliver the ‘Touch & Go’ functionality enabling speed and convenience for customers to simply place their
BSP Visa Debit or Mastercard on the screen of a BSP EFTPoS terminal to transact,” he said.
He said the first three “Touch & Go” transactions in the day, which are below $50, would not require the personal identification number (PIN).
These EMV cards were stated to also allow banks to improve the consumer experience for its visa debit customers who wished to transact at a local or overseas EFTPoS terminal.
