HR training for provincial heads
THE heads of the country’s 14 provincial councils met behind closed doors yesterday to discuss issues surrounding their work.
Speaking to participants, Ministry of iTaukei Affairs permanent secretary Meleti Bainimarama said human resources was one of the greatest assets of any organisation.
“Periodic trainings and capacity building activities to its human resources strengthens the input of this asset with returns of better management and implementation of objectives,” he said.
“Today marks the first ever training specifically for the provincial council chairperson, deputy chairperson and secretariat to which participants will be the pioneers of such specialised trainings in future.
“You will be specifically trained to fully understand the context of the provincial council members guide and its implications in your roles and responsibilities.”
He said the training would provide participants with a platform to improve their knowledge and understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
“The provincial council members guide is a tool that informs members on the procedures and processes that need to be followed when carrying out their roles.
“The toolkit was developed to support provincial council members in making informed decisions that will holistically benefit the recipients of our service.
“The challenge is to ensure that you do not deviate from the guide as this may pose greater risks to the work that you do.”
