Serristlev urges footballers to continue training

- By SHIRAZ KASIM

NATIONAL football coach Flemming Serristlev has asked footballers in the country to keep training on their own and be in good shape event though government has prohibited all mass gatherings as a means of stopping the spread of the COVID-19 pendamic,

“We have to respect all the guidelines put in place by the Government,”

Serristlev said.

He offered a valuable advice to the nation’s ardent footballers and fans alike.

“No matter that we like to be on the pitch together however it is impossible at the moment and I really hope that everybody respects all the directive’s given by the Government. It is for a reason and everyone associated with football should follow the instructions and show that they are good citizens.”

The Danish offered some guidance to the footballers who are currently inactive, to counter the lack of physical fitness they may encounter when the soccer season gets in full swing. “Please keep yourself in shape as good as possible. Try to train on your own as much as possible, without being connected to any other person.”

The former Papua New Guinea football team’s head coach has validated his reasons.

“It is important that they try to keep themselves fit, due to the circumstances we have at the moment, otherwise, it will be very tough if we have to start from scratch, when everything starts again soon, hopefully.”

The Fiji Football Association had cancelled all scheduled matches, last week Thursday, when the country’s first coronavirus case was formally announced by the prime minister.
