Spread love for humanity
WHEN it comes to COVID-19 — senior citizens are also vulnerable to severe illnesses.
Those with pre-existing medical conditions, especially low immunity and underline health condition like diabetes, cardiac, vascular are also more likely to have severe — even deadly — coronavirus infection than other age groups. Pearce Home Trust chairperson Mohammed Hassan Khan says senior citizens might not be in a condition to move out or have mobility issues.
He said as responsible citizens and a community, we could come together and give a helping hand to our elders.
"When you go and visit any senior citizen do remember to wear protective gear for coronavirus like masks, gloves and sanitisers," said Mr Khan. "They might get bored staying home — for this so involve some meaningful activities — learning new skills, reading, music, yoga and fitness.
Try to give an ID or badge to each of your member — for security reasons. After providing the required service, do a followup visit if they are happy or if they need something more.
Also keep record of your team members and seniors you have enrolled in the home.
You may also contact a local NGO for more outreach or help your housing society committee and senior citizens association in your area."
Mr Khan adds it would also be good to take help from government authorities like municipal corporation and police.
"Let's together fight and defeat coronavirus and let's spread love for humanity."
