Assistant principal appears in court

THE assistant principal of a secondary school in Lautoka appeared at the High Court in Lautoka yesterday, charged with one count of indecent assault.

He was granted bail by magistrate Nayani Kasturiratne with orders not to enter the school compound and not to interfere with witnesses.

It is alleged he indecently assaulted an 18-year-old student on Monday inside a storeroom in the school.

The student reported the incident to the principal, who called the police.

He has been ordered to reappear in court on August 7.
