Boy who cried wolf

-

HAZARD warning lights are only to be used if you are a temporary hazard, for example, if your vehicle has broken down on the side of the road; you are changing a tyre; or your vehicle is being towed.

They should not be used in traffic or if you park illegally (you should not park illegally); for stopping suddenly (you should control your speed and distance from the vehicle in front sufficiently to stop safely) or if someone ahead drives into their driveway.

Furthermore, when hazard warning lights are on, they override indicator lights so you will be unable to indicate.

More and more drivers are using hazard warning lights for the wrong reasons.

These emergency lights will lose their effectiveness just like the boy who cried wolf. JULIE SUTHERLAND
