Inspiring picture

THE picture of the six women who have turned to cane cutting to earn money will surely inspire others to do something for themselves.

Cane cutting is not an easy job, it is tough.

When we lived in Mulomulo I saw women cutting cane alongside their husbands, uncles, grandfathers and brothers,

For me it was a sight to see, then I got used to it. For many it will come as a surprise to see women cutting cane. Not for the people who live in the cane belt.

During these hard times people affected by the pandemic need to stand up like these women and help themselves.

I salute Asenaca Marama and her fellow cancutter women.
