Former lawyer to file appeal
FORMER human rights lawyer Aman RavindraSingh says he will file an appeal against the July 24 High Court decision that ordered him to pay $60,000 each to Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
Justice Lyone Seneviratne made the ruling in relation to a defamation case filed by Mr Bainimarama and Mr Sayed-Khaiyum against Ravindra-Singh over a Facebook post.
“I absolutely do not agree with the judgment,” Ravindra-Singh said.
“I will be filing an appeal against this judgment.”
He said he was not at liberty to discuss the exact grounds of the appeal in depth at this point.
“The grounds of appeal with focus on the errors in law and facts coupled with procedural irregularities.”
The High Court has given Ravindra-Singh 30 days to file an appeal.
