Chauhan makes winning return

VETERAN Suresh Chauhan took out the BSP Life sponsored snooker dozen tournament after defeating Nitesh Chand in the final at the Lautoka Club yesterday.

Regarded as the 'Golden Boy' of cue sport in the country Chauhan beat Nitesh 2-1.

A record number of players turned up for the first tournament hosted by the Lautoka Club.

In the semi-finals, Chauhan defeated Philp Gock 2-1 while Nitesh downed Vinesh Prasad by the same score. Lautoka Club captain Ajesh Chand said they received a positive response from the players since the government's relaxation on COVID-19 restrictio­ns with its safe return to sports guidelines. Ajesh said players from the Simla Dragons Club and South Seas Club also participat­ed.

“The next major event will be the North West Billiards and Snooker Associatio­n Singles Championsh­ip which will also be sponsored by BSP Life as well,” he said.

“It will be held in August. There are other tournament­s also being lined up as well.”
