Delta boys continue party

THE Rewa football team defended its turf successful­ly against a bold Lautoka side in the Vodafone Premier League match yesterday. The hosts beat the Blues 1-nil in the seventh round of the annual local competitio­n at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

Josaia Sela, 18, was the hero for the Rewa side scoring the goal of the match in the 22nd minute of play.

Rewa head coach Marika Rodu said he was was confident with his line up despite the tactical changes he made during the match.

“I meant to make changes during the match and I had to make the decision on the right time during the match,” the former national rep said.

“It is the depth that we have and when to make the changes.”

Rodu believes they're on the right track for the Battle of the Giants.

“We will leave the VPL from here and build up towards the BOG. This is where we want to stand and rectify our mistakes.”

Lautoka coach Ravinesh Kumar said he used the match to prepare for the BOG. “Congratula­tions to Rewa,” he said.

Rewa leads the points table with 16 points after seven rounds and Ba at second place after six rounds with 12 points and Lautoka at third place with 10 points.
