Adi Finau said Adi Salaseini never wavered in performing her duties diligently.

“She made an impact wherever she goes and now we are deeply saddened because she has left us.”

Adi Salaseini was known by friends and family as a hardworkin­g and dedicated lady who performed all tasks with utmost dedication.

Her role in protecting the traditiona­l knowledge of her maternal people in Cakaudrove and meticulous attitude in the use of such knowledge was also lauded at her funeral service

Adi Salaseini hails from the Naua clan in Bau but was brought up at her maternal village in Somosomo, Taveuni.

She was the widow of the late Tui Vuda Ratu Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivuda. Adi Salaseini served her traditiona­l role for the “vanua” as the “Radini Vanua ko Vuda Vakacegu” and was a prominent figure in the “Soqosoqo Vakamarama” taking the lead role as the current national president.

She was commended for her insightful leadership in steering the women’s group to a new direction.

She passed away at the age of 68 following a short illness

Adi Salaseini was laid to rest at the Lovonilase Cemetery in Suva last Saturday and is survived by four children and seven grandchild­ren.
