Winner takes all

-

HAVING recently defeated a much fancied Naitasiri team, the Tailevu rugby side is beaming with confidence.

There is nothing more at stake than defeating Nadi and claiming glory in 2020.

What a match this will be as the winner takes all because there will be no more challenges after that.

Both Nadi and Tailevu will have one last chance to rewrite history.

The X factor in most scenarios could be referred to the sheer hard work and sacrifice of a school teacher especially in the field of sports and other extracurricular activities that happen in schools or the community.

So many times, we hear of success stories of sports personalities and the people who have contributed towards their success.

What baffles me more is the acknowledgment part that people sometimes fail to mention.

There are so many teachers who must have sacrificed their family time to mold players, singers and other skills apart from their daily teaching and learning. This is praiseworthy.

However, we sadly find that there is very little to no recognition given to these group of people.

Perhaps, it’s only appropriate that more recognition and respect is given to these people so that the X factor is always present in our lives.

A teacher is like a burning candle, that literally burns itself to give light to others.

I think whoever is able to help us to keep our people safe from drugs must come forward and assist.

Like soccer, other sporting bodies in Fiji should also follow the action taken by Fiji FA against drugs. We don’t want any of our sporting activities to be marred by intoxication of any form. Let’s simply say no to drugs.
