$5000 support for organisation’s work
WESTPAC Fiji and its employees contributed $5000 to the Fiji Cancer Society on Friday.
A statement from the bank said the assistance was in support of cancer education and patient care.
Westpac Fiji chief executive Kip Hanna said employees had come together to contribute towards the advocacy around cancer awareness and patient support through the Fiji Cancer Society.
“It is important that we all take the time to reflect on the work that is being done during the month of October and educate ourselves and our people and we thank Fiji Cancer Society for the great work that they've done,” he said.
Fiji Cancer Society president Makrava Wilson acknowledged the bank’s support over the past 20 years.
“It's through the generous contributions and support from organisations such as Westpac and individuals like yourselves that continue to enhance the work of the Fiji Cancer Society.
“The Fiji Cancer Society is continually supporting cancer patients, survivors and their families as well as the Ministry of Health and Medical Services through the work that we do.
“The work is not confined to just assisting in terms of medication, but we've gone beyond as well by providing transportation, toiletries, diapers, prosthetic bras and helping with housing requirements, visa and passport requirements, social welfare benefits and legal requirements.”
Westpac Fiji stated it had supported its customers and communities through the good times and tough times since 1901 would continue to do so.
