Narayan scoops Lautoka title
TOP LINE, Lautoka golfer Dinesh Narayan paved his way to convincingly take out the Rheem Hot Water Systems presented by Weslec-sponsored tournament at the Lautoka Golf club course last Saturday.
He took out the 18 holes A-grade title after netting 64 for a sin shot victory over veteran gaffar Ali and Prem Chand, both firing 71 with Ali claiming second spot on a countback.
Ansarul Khan made his presence felt in the B-grade with a steady score of 66. Vikash Chand pitched in for 68 and outright second spot a shot clear of consistent Dr. Vimal murthi on 69.
Young Alex Qiokata grinded his way for a 65 to win the C-grade title and a promotion to B-grade. Lautoka Muslim College student Aariz Khan on 66, acquired second spot with Rajiv Anand on 70.
Steven Leger was declared the junior champion on 75 with Reginald Ram the newcomer champion on 76.
The nearest to pin award (NTP) on the second hole went to Qiokata and Arvind Pillay on the ninth hole. Lawrence Naidu hit the longest drive on the third hole.
Lautoka Golf Club executive Raymond Singh thanked sponsor Raiyaz Sahu Khan for the fantastic prizes on offer for the winners as well as a host of novelty prizes.
Khan confirmed his commitment towards a further sponsorship into the new year, especially to help the juniors development golf program.
