Fiji FA continues drug fight
THE Fiji Football Association is adamant in its drive to eradicate the use of illicit substances in the sport.
With the 2020 Vodafone Fiji FACT starting in Labasa yesterday, Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf, said more random tests would be conducted on players.
“There will be drug testing conducted during the Vodafone Fiji FACT to ensure that we keep the sport free of drugs thus creating a clean sporting environment,” Yusuf said.
“Our target is to have a drug-free tournament.
“We are placing emphasis on educating our youths and protecting them.”
Yusuf said three players each from the two participating teams in a match would be randomly picked to undergo the drug tests.
“Any footballer participating at the tournament testing positive for the drug tests will be subjected to the stringent disciplinary measures in place. Anyone getting caught will be handed an automatic ban from playing football.”
