Company assists charitable organisations
TIMBER and hardware suppliers B Prasad and Sons Pte Ltd gave $1056.20 each to the Fiji Society for the Blind and Hilton Special School yesterday.
Company director Ashok Prasad said they had been engaging with the communities for more than 10 years.
“It's become a tradition for the company to assist both schools,” he said.
“Actually the director of the company Shri Mati Kumar is a soft-hearted person and has a lot of liking for the special children.
“Every year during Ram Naumi (Hindu festival) we donate funds to the schools.”
According to Mr Prasad the company held Sundar Kand Pooja at their B Prasad complex in Navua on November 22, 2020.
“Both school were invited, however due to prior commitments they were not able to attend it. For this reason both schools were invited to our office today for their donations,” he said.
Fiji Society for the Blind executive director Barbara Farouk said the financial assistance would go towards meeting the needs of the special children who were visually impaired especially for their education and rehabilitation.
“They have been giving us the donation every year and also providing meals to our children and sometimes they call the children to their place for the Diwali celebrations,” she said.
“We are really grateful for their help and look forward to continue receiving such donations in the future.”
Hilton Special School human resources officer Nina Tokavou said they had their outpatients department which delivered their services to the community and 17 special schools around Fiji.
“So that's where the funds we have received today will be directly utilised in as well as supporting our two schools, Hilton Special School and Early Intervention Centre,” she said.
