Masons raise $9k for cancer

- By FELIX CHAUDHARY

FREEMASONS raised $9000 towards WOWS (Walk On Walk Strong) Fiji last week.

Master of the Lodge of Fiji Krishna Raju said $6600 was raised from contributions and auctions, $400 from overseas members and $2000 from the lodge itself.

Mr Raju said the Lodge of Fiji had a long history of giving to charity since it was established in 1882 and it was working on two further projects.

He said the first was to support children on two islands in southern Lau who had lost all their school books and school equipment when TC Harold devastated their schools in 2019.

Mr Raju said the expected cost of the project to replace their school needs would be in the range of $20,000 and $25,000.

He said the second project, which would be announced before Christmas, was estimated to cost about $15,000 annually and if successful, would be a continuing annual presentation.
