Resort business picks up

- By LUKE NACEI

WITH current pandemic situation, the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort is starting to pick up with business.

“Currently at Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort we are bringing out 40 per cent of our total inventory at the moment,” resort’s resident manager Chris Hamilton said.

However, events such as the Beach, Beats and Eats hosted by the resort have stimulated and have increased the demands for the resort.

“We've been really humble and overwhelmed with the local feedback and the support and partnering with great business partners like VOU entertainment and Inside Out has really made the event successful as it has been.”

Mr Hamilton said during tough times, the resort has had to be creative.

“We've got to push ourselves and our team really excelled in thinking outside the box in a challenging period to help create a success of these events.

“We started five months ago with this event. When we started we did not know whether it was going to be successful or not, we wanted to feel normal in a time that was far from normal. We put a team together and we came up with this event.

“I think it's that passion and that authentic to want to do something that has made the event successful.”

Mr Hamilton said this was the fourth time they hosted the event and had been very successful.

Mr Hamilton is urging local guests to be part of the resort’s New Year’s celebration.

He said the resort would host a beach party like no other which would feature live entertainment from the infamous Inside Out band.

“We are doing that from December 31st to January 1 so again we are going to have a great itinerary of events that are happening. You are going to need to book soon because we are finding that we have so much interest for the Christmas and New Year's period and I’d encourage everyone that if they want to come down they can get on the phone and talk to our reservations teams.”
