NZ gives 17 tonnes of relief items
FIJI Airways flew in almost 17 tonnes of relief supplies and equipment from Auckland, courtesy of the New Zealand government.
The items, destined for those impacted by super storm Yasa, were addressed to the Fiji National Disaster Management Office (NDMO).
An Airbus A330 freighter aircraft brought in numerous pallets of supplies from New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, facilitated by the New Zealand High Commission in Suva.
The items included agriculture kits, mother and infant kits, generators, chainsaws, family hygiene kits, agriculture tool and shelter kits, collapsible water containers and other supplies.
Meanwhile, a New Zealand Defence Force Hercules aircraft and crew from No. 40 Squadron successfully completed two survey flights over the impacted areas and remain ready to respond to those affected by STC Yasa.
