FRCS 15 unhappy with offer

- By ANISH CHAND

FIJI Public Service Association general secretary Rajeshwar Singh claims the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) is proceeding with the compulsory redundancy of 83 border control officers.

He said this was conveyed to him this week by FRCS acting CEO Fane Vave.

He said 15 officers had decided against accepting the redundancy package.

Mr Singh said the 15 wanted to file a grievance with the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations.

“They are not happy with the package that is being offered,” he said.

“Also, FRCS has failed to include a clause in their redundancy letters that they will be called back to work once the borders open.

“We wanted this clause to stop FRCS from recruiting new staff at lower salary levels just like it happened in ATS.”

Mr Singh added they will also challenge the fact FRCS had failed to uphold the master collective agreement with the union.

“The agreement mandates negotiations and FRCS has postponed two meetings, including one today (yesterday).

“All we wanted was good faith bargaining and this clearly hasn’t taken place.”

Ms Vave has not responded to questions sent to her on Monday.
