FIVE people were rushed to the Navua Hospital – one in serious condition – after the vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road in Vunaniu, Serua yesterday.

Police said investigations were continuing but urged drivers to be careful while on the road. Chief of Operations ACP Abdul Khan said with increased traffic movement anticipated this week and into the weekend, traffic officers would be deployed throughout the country.

“There will be parties and social gatherings where we anticipate the consumption of alcohol and our traffic team will be deployed with the booze bus to keep things in check. We also call on everyone to help, and if you know someone has been drinking alcohol and is in no state to drive, say something or call us so we can intervene before it’s too late,” he said.
