STC Yasa

-

STC Yasa traversed our island group in a raging Cat 5 wrath, leaving destruction and unfortunate fatalities in its path.

At one time it was forecasted to skirt the far west of Viti Levu, but actually made its fatal landfall in Bua on Vanua Levu.

It cut a path exiting near Savusavu and then easterly below Taveuni Island, before it entered the West Lomaiviti waters and to the Lau Group of islands.

While it reduced in intensity to a Cat 3, the destruction it left behind was captured in pictures for all to see.

Our prayers and sympathies we send to those who were directly affected and hope the basic needs of those who suffered will never be neglected.

Other cyclones may come this way in the near future, let’s continue to remain alert, vigilant and ready, so that we can always endure.

We hope there will be no more CAT 5s, because it just makes it harder for our people to remain resilient and survive.
