Ms Ma’afu said when strong winds tore off the roof of her daughter’s house about 8pm, she huddled over her granddaughter in a corner of her daughter’s bedroom.
“We just prayed on for the other four families that sought refuge at the house and asked God to help us make it through the night,” she said.
On Friday morning when the wind abated, Ms Ma’afu rushed to the village nurse’s house.
She said in her 63 years, she had never experienced anything as strong as super storm Yasa.
