FORTY-FIVE retiring teachers in the Western Division were recognised at a ceremony organised for the first time by the Ministry of Education.

The service recognition awards were held at Natabua High School at the request of Minister for Education Rosy Akbar.

“This is a very important and very significant occasion because the Ministry of Education has come wholeheartedly to express its gratitude towards the contributions of the hundreds of teachers,” said the ministry’s head of human resources, Hem Chand.

“There is no such thing as goodbyes and farewells when it comes to teachers because their teaching stays forever in their students’ minds and hearts.”

Mr Chand told the retirees “we will really miss your services”.

“Your teachings will forever be treasured.

“After many years of hard work and dedication, you can relax and enjoy the simple things life has to offer.”
