FSC to announce new CEO
THE recruitment process for a new Fiji Sugar Corporation chief executive officer is in progress.
This, according to FSC board chairman Vishnu Mohan during the corporation’s annual general meeting in Lautoka yesterday.
He said the interview process had begun and an announcement of a new CEO would be made soon.
Meanwhile, in a media conference yesterday, outgoing CEO Graham Clark said he had seen a lot of improvement within the corporation during his tenure.
“Four years ago, things were in a terrible state,” Mr Clark said.
“So our first job together with the chairman was to do a bit of tidying up.
“We had to clean the balance sheet; we had to write things off and unfortunately, give away a lot of stuff and put the operation into a state that it could fully function.
“It was dysfunctional when we took over, that’s for sure.
“There’s only a couple of what we call legacy issues that we need to put to bed but we’ve cleaned the cupboard and so I’m hoping that from here, we’ve created a platform that we could lead on to.”
He said one of the biggest achievements of the corporation was the improvement in mill operations.
“I think another achievement was what we have been able to do in the factories.
“Many people had said that we couldn’t improve these 140-year-old mills but I believe sugar factories can work if you spend money in the right way.
“I am very pleased to say that our breakdowns were 20 per cent lower.”
